Shooting Stars in The SkyFriday, August 13, a Meteor Shower in the Sky over Lake Winnipesaukee. After the sun sets on Winnipesaukee it gets dark on the lake. This makes it a great place to see Shoting Stars. This evening we are expecting a Perseids Meteor Shower, hosting a range of 60-80 meteors an hour. The skies will come alive Aug 13th. Don’t miss your opportunity to reserve the best seat in the house, Lake Winnipasukee. Partnering with the McAullife & Sheppard Discovery Center we have arranged for a special night with an educational twist: The cruise will depart Weirs beach at 7:30pm. Dinner will be served promptly upon boarding. At approximately 8:30pm the McAullife & Sheppard Discovery Center will be hosting a satellite exhibit in our steamboat lounge. This exhibit will enlighten our passengers on how shooting starts are formed as well as the difference between meteors, shooting stars, and perseids. They will also be bringing aboard several hands on type exhibits such as 10 or so meteors. These will be able to get passed around and touched by our passengers. After a short 15-30 minute talk/PowerPoint presentation, the Sheppard Discovery Center will then bring people up to the third deck to give a physical lecture pointing out the differences in the meteors our passengers are seeing. This will be something new and different aboard the M/S Mount Washington. In case of cloudy or rainy weather, you will not be bored. The Discovery Center will still be there to to show and tell. In addition there will be 2 entertainers on board playing dance music. Come aboard and dance under the falling stars. Entertainment on Board: Buffet Dinner with Beef and Haddock We are offering a special price for children on this cruise: |
