James Bennett, The New Chef on Board
We are happy to introduce the new chef to our cruise family. James Bennett graduated at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and later guest taught at CIA. He grew up in Long Island and then worked exclusively in New York City including chefing at Fraunces Tavern, Coho at South St. Seaport, & La Petit Ferme. He preferred Upstate NY to the city, then raised his sons while working for 4 years on Martha’s Vineyard.
His background includes: Working Head Chef at Chez Bison at Zion Mountain Resort in Zion Park, UT - Working Head Chef at 74 Maine Bistro, Damariscotta, ME - Executive Working Chef at The Wilburton Inn, Manchester Vermont, VT - Executive Working Chef
at The Spruce Point Inn, Boothbay Harbor, ME and Executive Working Chef at Martha's Restaurant, Martha's Vineyard, MA.
James will create Catered Event Packages. With Weddings, for example, he will meet with the family-to-be and arrange for them to have a private tasting. For corporate functions, he works with the company directly to arrange what they’re looking for.
It is our gain that James Bennet has fallen in love with the Lakes Region of NH. We look forward to working with James and tasting his many specialties.
Dinner Dance Cruises from Meredith are Back On Friday nights, starting with the Lobsterfest on July 5, we will cruise from Meredith at 7:30 PM for a 3 hour dinner dance cruise. Those who wish can still board the ship at Weirs Beach at 7 PM. Check the Friday night schedule for themes and dates.
Get Off and Visit
Here is a little known secret: If you take the 10 AM cruise from Weirs Beach you can get off in Wolfeboro and visit for 2.5 hours. You can return to Weirs Beach on the last cruise back at 1:45 PM. This also applies to Center Harbor, Meredith and Alton Bay on the days we cruise to those ports. Alton Bay (Sundays) has a craft show in July, on the waterfront right by the dock.
Center Harbor (Mondays) is home to the world famous Keepsake Quilting and other great shops and restaurants just across the street form where we dock.
Meredith (Mondays) has many wonderful restaurants and shops within walking distance from the dock. The visiting time in Meredith would be from 12–2:30 PM and Alton Bay 11:15AM–2 PM and Center Harbor 11AM–1:30 PM.
Do not miss the return cruise, the ship will not be coming back that day. These departures are not in the schedule since it is the last return to the original port. Parking: If you plan to get off and visit, you need to park in the lot by the church on Tower Street as the meters on the street don’t allow enough time.
3 Private Banquet Rooms In the winter of 2010 we refurbished a section of the ship and added a new function room on board. This lovely room is located behind the bow and features a 270° view of the lake. We have dedicated it to the captains who have served more than 25 years with our company and named it the Captain's Lounge. It is perfect for private parties of up to 60 people.
This winter we will be renovating our Flagship Lounge on the second level aft. It has a lovely view of the lake, a bar and a dance floor. This room has a capacity of approximately 125 for a sit down dinner.
The lower level has a nicely decorated very private lounge. It has a seating capacity of up to 75.
The M/S Mount Washington is the perfect place to host a wedding, reunion or a special party. To book an event or get more information call: 603-366-5531
